Origins
Established in 1971, Griffith University opened its doors in 1975 to 451 students across its 4
schools four schools. Griffith University has now come to be regarded as one of Australia's
most innovative tertiary institutions in Australia and one of the most influential universities
in the Asia-Pacific region.
A founding member of Innovative Research Universities Australia (IRU-Australia), Griffith
delivers a whole new student experience with its innovative approach to research, training
and learning.
We were the very first university in Australia to offer degrees in and Environmental studies
to our students and we remain a pioneer in these fields. We have grown to be a large multi-
campus institution with internationally recognised strengths in teaching and research.
Griffith is Australia’s ninth largest higher education provider.

games, and much of the infrastructure for this event will be located adjacent to this campus
