Although it became England 's fourteenth university in 1954, the University of Hull 's origins dates back to 1928. The University has been ranked in the Top 20 in the UK for learning and teaching by The Sunday Times .
Several subjects have been rated at the "Excellent" level by the Quality Assurance Agency, including Business, Law, History & Engineering. The University is consistently among the top ten UK universities for graduate employability.
 
Since its foundation the University has aimed to forge a distinguished history of providing quality education and rich life experience to students from around the globe. In any year around 10 per cent of its students are from countries outside the European Union.

Currently the University has on its campuses students from over 100 countries, with especially large groups from Nigeria , Ghana , India , Japan , Malaysia , China , Pakistan , Saudi Arabia , the USA and Kenya , in addition to all European Union countries.
